4/17 Ian Ross is an Ohio based musician who plays rock, blues, funk, jazz, and pop, but also dabbles in classical and bluegrass. His main instrument is guitar, but he is also an accomplished vocalist and composer/arranger. He currently has songs registered at BMI and has written music for radio, T.V. and film, and was the fleet arranger for Princess Cruise lines from 2017-2019. A professional musician since age 13, Ian grew up in the clubs of the bustling Cleveland music scene, playing alongside such local greats as Colin Dussault, the Wanda Hunt Band, Sonny Robertson and the Howard Street Blues Band, and the Alan Greene Band. Ian went on to perform with such internationally recognized musicians as Jeff Healy and Will Ray of the Hellecasters. His various and eclectic original projects have performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Oxford Jazz Festival, the Midpoint Music Fest and opened up for such national acts as Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jr., Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Deep Purple, ABBA, Peter Frampton, Lyle Lovett, Earth Wind and Fire, The Beach Boys, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His organ trio was the houseband at Kentucky's Jazz Mania 2005-2006 and he was named best guitarist by Cincinnati Magazine in 2007. Since 2012 Ian has worked for Princess Cruises, rising quickly to become one of fleet's top guitarist and given the honor of being asked to be a part of the inaugural crew of Princess' newest ships, the Regal in 2014 and Majestic in 2017. In 2018 Ian relocated back to NE Ohio to be closer to family and spend more time developing his own original projects. Ian's group this evening will feature accomplished west-coast based musicians bassist Graham Shackelford and drummer Andre Copher, performing 2 full sets of primarily original instrumental music by the leader, as well some lesser-known jazz standards and the group's own reworking of some pop classics. There's something for everyone, so come out and enjoy!
Dorianne Denard and Friends
4/24 Dorianne Denard was born and raised in the Cleveland area, but has lived in Akron for many years. She started singing in church at the age of four. By her teenage years, she was singing at special occasions such as weddings, social gatherings, and celebrations of the departed. She was most recently a member of Sausalito Jazz Trio which performed at many venues throughout Northeast Ohio. Her musical inspirations include BB King, Anita Baker, Bonnie Raitt, and Cassandra Wilson. Music is a symbiotic relationship for Dorianne; she sings for the pleasure, joy, and peace of the audience, which creates the same in her. Dorianne will be accompanied by a trio consisting of Ricardo Guerra (drums), Benny Bock (piano) and Eli Heath (bass). Benny Bock, from Berkeley, California in his final year at Oberlin Conseravatory. Eli Heath is a rising Massachusetts and Ohio based musician. Proficient in a wide range of musical styles, he performs frequently throughout the Midwest as an accompanist and bandleader and has appeared at festivals and venues across the United States, Canada, and Brazil. Eli is an active member of Frisson, Moshuro, and the Oberlin Sonny Rollins Ensemble and has performed alongside artists including Charles Neville, Dominick Farinacci, Jamey Haddad, Erik Lawrence, and Harvey Wirht. He is a current student of Oberlin College and Conservatory where he is completing degrees in Jazz Double Bass Performance and Africana Studies and will be music directing two mainstage theater productions this coming spring. Ricardo Guerra is a drummer/percussionist from Miami, FL. Ricardo has performed and worked with musicians such as George Cables, Brian Lynch, Petros Klampanis, Ed Calle, and Ira Sullivan among others. He has participated in festivals and competitions in NYC, San Diego, Switzerland, and India. Ricardo is finishing his undergraduate studies in music performance at Oberlin Conservatory. For the last 8 years, Ricardo has been a freelance musician in the Miami area, and has been freelancing in the Cleveland/Oberlin area since 2015.
Peggy Coyle and Rock Wehrmann
5/1 "The Fabulous Peggy Coyle" is one of Northeast Ohio's most versatile and sought after entertainers. A talented Jazz & Blues singer, Peggy's repertoire spans musical works from the 40's Big Band Swing era all the way to early Rock & Roll. Peggy honed her pitch perfect skills and ability to connect with the audience while singing with Phil Palumbo & Pals for 20 years. Currently, you can enjoy Peggy Coyle in a variety of venues. She sings in a duo with the talented Brad Bolton on guitar, often times appears in a trio with Kevin Desimone on keyboard and Neil Fry on stand up bass. She also performs with the Mostly Blues Band and Mike Lenz, as well as sings the popular old dance tunes with the Savoy Big Band. Peggy Coyle can chase all your blues with the music of Billy Holliday, make you fall in love when she sings an Etta James ballad, pick up your spirits with Fats Waller's "Aint Misbehavin,'" or just tap your toe as you listen to her sing jazz tunes of Dinah Washington and Louis Armstrong. You can even ask her to rock out with a Janis Joplin classic or a medley of Led Zeppelin. Come hear her in the intimate setting of Pub Bricco's back room in the valley or over cocktails and dinner at the Cuyahoga Falls Sheraton or have fun at Maize Valley Winery in Hartville. Enjoy the real blues at the GAR Hall in Peninsula or dance to the music of Duke Ellington at Tozzi's in Canton. Michael Vincent Quartet
5/15 Mike Vincent Quartet returns to Pub Bricco! This night will be filled with classic renditions that you are sure to recognize. We will be debuting some new original music as well! 5/29 Dillon Shidemantle holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Akron. He has studied under Jack Schantz, Scott Johnston, Mark Maliniak, and Mark Dulin. He is a founding member of The Monk's Brew, a jazz combo that has performed for the Erie Jazz and Blues Fest, the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Fest, the Boalsburg People's Choice Festival, and the Penn State Arts Festival. In 2018, he spent the summer as a nightly entertainer at OWA Theme Park in Foley, Alabama. Dillon has performed with The Dave Banks Big Band as the lead singer and trumpeter. He has also had the absolute pleasure of working and studying under Joe Augustine, Dave Morgan, Jim Rupp, Jackie Warren, Helen Welch, Barbara Rosen, and Shannon Eller. Dillon admires and charms his audience with the styles of classic crooners like Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Michael Bublé into his performances. More info to come!!
